Children ages 0-10: Most students in Stoughton 4k through 4th grade will receive a reading log at school to log your reading and activities. If you need a reading log, they will be available at the Children's desk starting June 1 or you can print one here. Earn free books, coupons, and chances to win a grand prize when you read this summer. We will be giving away a Lego set, art kit, and more! The more reading and activities you log, the more you increase your chances to win a grand prize. Prize pickup starts June 12.
Teens ages 11-17: Use the log you received at school, or visit the Information Desk on the top floor of the library to pick up a reading log. You can also download and print your own log if you prefer (front, back). Earn free books and the chance to win a grand prize when you read this summer. Set your own reading goal this summer and earn a chance to spin the prize wheel when you are halfway to your goal, and again when you complete your goal. Every teen who completes their reading goal will earn a free book to be donated to a teen in need in our community. Check out the teen summer reading video.
Adults ages 18+: Pick up your reading log at the top floor Information Desk. You can also download and print your own log if you prefer. Complete challenges such as "Read a book set in another country" or "Read a graphic novel" to earn grand prize tickets. Ten lucky winners will receive tote bags containing this year's Go Big Read title and other goodies. Every adult who completes ten challenges will earn a free book to be donated to an adult or teen in need in our community.

I just found out about the Summer Library Program, but the summer is already half over. Can I still participate?
Yes! Please estimate the time you've spent reading since June 1 and add this to your log.
Will you be giving out prize passes to Eugster's Family Farm this summer?
Yes! We will have Eugster's passes as prizes for completing the Summer Library Program for ages 0-10.
How strict are you about the age ranges?
People going into sixth grade in Fall 2023 can choose if they would like to do the Children's Summer Library Program one more year, or if they prefer to participate in the Teen program. And people who are 17 can choose to do the Teen Summer Library Program one more year, or try the Adult program. Please choose just one program to participate in. Have questions? Talk to staff about the requirements and prizes for each program, so you can choose which one to try this year.
Can my young child participate in 1000 Books Before Kindergarten and the Summer Library Program at the same time?
Yes! Good news is, the books children ages 0-5 count toward both programs at the same time. For the Summer Library Program, you'll log number of minutes spent reading. For 1000 Books, you'll log the number of books read (or re-read).
What happened to Beanstack?
We were very grateful for Beanstack while we were closed and partially closed during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. It allowed us to stay connected with our readers when we weren't able to see you in person. But when the library is open like normal, we much prefer the face-to-face interactions with all of you at our service desks. We especially appreciate that the Summer Library Program gives teen volunteers a chance to earn service hours, and gives children a chance to receive praise from library staff and teen volunteers for their reading.
