Friends Committees & Officers

Looking to be more active in Friends of the Library? Meet new people, enjoy helping plan a fundraising/social time raising money for library resources and programming!

The FOL Board meets bi-monthly. Committees meet as needed.

Board Officers

  • The President shall prepare an agenda, preside at meetings of the Friends of the Stoughton Public Library, and give a report at the annual meeting.
  • The Vice-President shall preside at meetings in the absence of the President.
  • The Treasurer shall collect and deposit all moneys due the Friends of the Stoughton Public Library, verify all bills and pay them when approved by the Board of Directors, keep records of such receipts and disbursements, and report thereon at meetings, and make a yearly report at the annual meeting.
  • The Secretary shall record proceedings of meetings of the Board of Directors and the annual meeting and write minutes thereof; and conduct such official correspondence as the Board may direct.

Committee Chairs

  • The Membership Chair works on the recruitment and orientation of new members; sends out renewal notices and membership cards each year; keeps a list of all members; and provides a list of members interested in helping with various committees to committee chairs.
  • The Public Relations/Newsletter Chair works to facilitate fundraising events and similar activities as the need arises including publication of a newsletter and other media.
  • The Book Sales/Book Cart Chair sorts books donated for book sales; reserves space to hold the sale; and enlists volunteers to help set up, work at the sale, and clean up afterward. The book cart should be kept stocked with materials for sale and the money collected on a regular basis.
  • The Spring Fundraiser Chair plans and coordinates an event to raise money for the library. This includes having a theme as well as arranging volunteer help with set up, working at the event and clean up afterwards.
  • The Pie Place Chair arranges for volunteers to provide pies, etc., set up and clean up at the Canoe Race on Friday and set up and clean up at the library if held on Saturday.
  • The Summer Fundraiser Chair plans and coordinates an event to raise money for the library. This includes having a theme as well as arranging volunteer help with set up, working at the event and clean up afterwards.
  • The Fall Fundraiser Chair plans and coordinates an event to raise money for the library. This includes having a theme as well as arranging volunteer help with set up, working at the event and clean up afterwards.
