Updated Curbside Holds Pickup

We recently updated our curbside holds pickup options! After receiving an automated notification that your holds are available, you now have the following choices:

Option 1: Make your own curbside holds pickup appointment

  • Please check your holds expiration date and make sure your appointment is before that date! Otherwise, your items will not be available for you.
  • Use this link: https://curbside.capiratech.com/?code=stouwius53589
  • Do not use this option if you'd like to pickup holds for multiple family members, if you are requesting special items (such as craft kits), if you aren't sure about your holds expiration date, if you don't have an email address, or if you'd like to pick up your items in the next 60 minutes.
In those cases, please use option 2 or 3.
  • Appointments are made Monday-Thursday from 9:00 am - 6:45 pm, Friday from 9:00 am - 4:45 pm, and Saturday from 12:00 pm - 4:45 pm and can be made two weeks in advance.

Option 2: Contact us for a holds pickup appointment

  • Email us at storef@stolib.org or call us at (608) 873-6281 to request an appointment.
  • Appointments are made Monday-Thursday from 9:00 am - 6:45 pm, Friday from 9:00 am - 4:45 pm, and Saturday from 12:00 pm - 4:45 pm and can be made two weeks in advance.
  • If no one answers your phone call, we are probably helping another patron! Leave a message with your name, phone number, and library barcode number and we will call you back as soon as we can.

Option 3: Curbside Express

  • This option is available Monday-Thursday from 12:00 pm - 6:45 pm and Friday-Saturday from 12:00 pm-4:45 pm.
  • Call us at (608) 873-6281 when you are about 15 minutes away from the library.
  • If no one answers your call, we are probably helping another patron! Leave a message with your name, phone number, and library barcode number, and we will call you back as soon as possible.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Do I need to have my library card number ready when I contact you?
Yes please!

Where will my items be when I arrive?
Items will be placed on a cart outside the library's main entrance in a plastic bag with your name attached.

Can I return items?
Yes! Please return items only in our exterior book drop.

How can I find items if I can't enter your library?
Search for items in LINKcat and place them on hold OR call at (608) 873-6281 (or email storef@stolib.org) and we’ll place the holds for you. If you aren't sure what you are looking for or would enjoy recommendations, let us know; we are happy to help!  Once your holds arrive, you will receive an automated notification. At that time, use one of the options above to pick up your items.

Can I get Lucky Day items?
We can work with you to offer Lucky Day books; just call us at (608) 873-6281! Lucky Day dvds are not available for checkout at this time. We can also check out children's read-along Vox Books, Wonder Books, and Busy Bags.

Why is there a delay between when I place my holds and when they are available?
Library staff will do our best to retrieve materials from our collection in a timely manner. In accordance with social distancing guidelines, we are operating with a limited number of staff in our building. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

Can I get items owned by other libraries at this time?
Yes, but expect delays. Delivery between libraries is now running again, but is running much more slowly than it usually does. Items getting delivered between libraries quarantine for 72 hours both at the sorting facility and the receiving library,  so it's completely normal for items to be "In Transit" for 2-4 weeks.

Can I talk to library staff when I come to pick up my holds?
Nope. As much as we would like to speak with our patrons directly, we must continue to minimize person-to-person contact.

When I visit https://curbside.capiratech.com/?code=stouwius53589 to make my own pickup appointment, I see the option to "Check-in for pickup" -- what's that all about?
Please ignore that option, it does not apply to our library.

I'd like to change the time of my pickup appointment: how do I do that?
If you made your own appointment, you can log in to https://curbside.capiratech.com/?code=stouwius53589, cancel your appointment, and make a new one (there's not a way to revise an existing appointment at this time).  Or you can contact the library and we can help you make any needed changes.

I want to make my own appointment, but I don't know my password!
Your password for https://curbside.capiratech.com/?code=stouwius53589 is the same PIN you used for the self-check machines and the library computers. It is often your birthdate in the format MMDD (no year included). Give us a call if you have questions!

What precautions are library staff taking?
Library staff are taking precautions for the safety and health of our patrons and staff. All returned library materials will be isolated for 72 hours before they are checked in.
All staff working in the library will adhere to social distancing practices, including the use of separate work stations and maintenance of 6’ or more between individuals.
To protect our patrons, all staff members will wear masks when handling materials for curbside delivery. Our zero-contact method of delivering materials involves placing materials on a bookcart just outside the library doors for pick-up

What if it's raining?
We may need to suspend holds pick-up if there is inclement weather. We will contact you directly if we need to reschedule your appointment.

Do you still miss library patrons?
SO much (still!), but we've been enjoying talking with you over the phone and via email!  Thank you for all the positive feedback!

What's the deal with this fine-free situation?
We're glad you asked! That information can be found here: https://www.stoughtonpubliclibrary.org/no-more-overdue-fines
