Thursdays with Murder

This mystery book discussion is for anyone who wishes to enjoy and learn about mysteries. Attendees will not always read the same title. Instead, we will sometimes read by author, by topic, or do comparisons. We meet on the second Thursday of each month at 6:30 pm, from January - November (no meeting in August).
Copies of each title will be available on the 2nd floor of the library near the Information Desk (call or email us if you'd like us to add one of these items to your curbside pickup)!

No meeting in December

January 14: The Widows of Malabar Hill is the first book in Sujata Massey's Perveen Mistry series.

February 11: Funny People: Choose Bad Monkey by Carl Hiaasen or The Spellman Files by Lisa Lutz (or both!)

March 11: IQ is the first book in Joe Ide's series set in Los Angeles.

April 8: Mysterious Archeologists: Take your pick from Elizabeth Peters' Crocodile on the Sandbank (Amelia Peabody series) and/or Elly Griffith's Crossing Places (Ruth Galloway series)

May 13: This month we'll try an espionage thriller instead of a mystery, with The Kill Artist by Daniel Silva.

June 10: Originally scheduled for 2020, this month will feature guest facilitator Helene Androski. She is a retired Senior Academic Librarian from Memorial Library at UW-Madison who remains very active with the Wisconsin Library Association. Further, she is known for her wonderful UW-Madison Continuing Studies History & Mystery classes. Tonight she’ll cover “Theme and Variations on the English Village Mystery.” The books to be discussed are Agatha Christie's Murder at the Vicarage, G. M. Malliet's Wicked Autumn, and Val Mcdermid's A Place of Execution.  

July 8: Attica Locke's Highway 59 novels: Bluebird, Bluebird and/or Heaven My Home

September 9: Locked Room Mysteries: Malice by Keigo Higashino and/or An Unwanted Guest by Shari Lapena

October 14: Nordic Noir: The Ice Princess by Camilla Lackberg

November 11: In the Bleak Midwinter by Julia Spencer-Fleming is the first book in the successful Clare Fergusson/Russ Van Alstyne mystery series.
