We are in search of a vibrant and enthusiastic intern to support and collaborate with library staff in creating engaging and enriching programs for tweens and teens.
This paid 8-month internship extends for approximately 33 weeks from February through September 2020 and is open to current library/information science students (and recent graduates). The position is 15 -18 hours per week, and the preferred schedule is Tuesdays 11 am - 4 pm, Wednesdays 3 - 9 pm, and Thursdays 12 - 6 pm.
You will help design, coordinate, and run events; develop summer reading programs and activities; and engage with and support teens in the library. Successful candidates will be willing to take risks, have fun, and meet challenges head-on while working with these dynamic and diverse patrons. The ideal candidate will be team-oriented, energetic, creative, and have a strong desire to cultivate positive experiences for young adults in the library. Our intern also helps staff a busy reference desk, so great communication skills and attention to detail are essential.
Our Teen Services Intern will co-plan and co-present teen programs as well as gain experience staffing the Adult Reference desk and doing teen collection development. This internship is open to a current library school student working toward a Masters in Library and Information Science.
