Remote Reading Recommendation: Amy H.

Are you itching to travel somewhere? anywhere? Why not travel with books? In my recent reads I found that I had "coincidentally" read two books about journeys. I would recommend them both for a bit of vicarious travel.

Grandma Gatewood's Walk by Ben Montgomery

This is a true story about a grandma who tells her adult children she's going for a walk. Oh. She's 67 years old and the "walk" is the entire Appalachian trail. It was great fun joining Grandma Gatewood on her many big adventures! (This title is part of the Always Available collection of downloadable ebooks and audiobooks through Overdrive).

Two Steps Forward by Graeme Simsion

Two individuals , each recovering from a crisis in their life, find themselves hiking the Camino de Santiago, a pilgrim route from France to Spain. As with most journeys of this sort, there are physical challenges, some trail magic and, perhaps, a bit of romance as well.
