Welcome to the New "Life Transitions" Collection @ Stoughton Public Library Made possible with a grant from The Madison Community Foundation Materials Purchased By The Stoughton Public Library Materials Added To Date   Discover the Life Transitions collection!   More about the Madison Community Foundation Grant... A comment from Jaime Vache, Director of Stoughton Public Library,   "Receiving this grant allows us to delve deeply and broadly into subject matter that is of great interest to our patrons. We would not be able to afford this on our regular collections budget. Not only is our own collection strengthened, but these materials are also available to others through Linkcat and inter-library loan." How will the Madison Community Foundation grant benefit our community?     This grant will allow Stoughton Public Library to focus on significant social issues that have an effect on every individual and family in our community. This collection will be a relevant for a very wide audience.  The theme, "life transitions", was chosen to meet current and ongoing informational needs and interest of both the Stoughton area and wider South Central library community.   The areas (or subjects) covered within "life transitions" will include birth, marriage, children, teens, retirement, divorce, health and wellness, death, job loss, relocation, homelessness and other topics.  Information and resources on these subjects is especially relevant for communities such as Stoughton where residents are experiencing major employee layoffs, financial strain, and limited family resources, as well as the events of everyday life. Press Release, Spring 2009   Stoughton Public Library has received a generous $27,500 grant from the Madison Community Foundation to build a new and unique collection of library materials around the theme of "Life Transitions."  This grant will be awarded to the library over the next three years to purchase materials that could not otherwise be afforded in the library's book and audiovisual budget.  The library will build a collection addressing topics such as job loss, retirement, aging, coping strategies and other significant and timely social issues affecting community members of all ages.  Be sure to visit the library in June to view a special display of materials purchased with these generous grant funds from Madison Community Foundation.         Learn more about the Madison Community Foundation here. _______________________________________________________________________________________________ The Stoughton Public Library is a member of the South Central Library System.
